Is Faith in God Reasonable?

“Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.”
Jude 3

We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God,
and take every thought captive to obey Christ
(2 Corinthians 10:5)

As Christians we are called by the Lord to defend the faith, to be ready to give an account to those who ask of us. In order to do this effectively, we must equip ourselves as a soldier would put on the best armor and get the best weapons- in our situation, solid Biblical arguments.

You may think, yes, but my calling is in the home. I am a young lady or mother, or stay at home wife and this is just not my field of ministry. Others do this, not me. But I want to encourage you and say that it is just as much your ministry as theirs! We are all ambassadors of Christ, and we must all be able to do the job of apologetics (from Greek Apologia “speaking in defense”). Of course, we each work according to the measure we are called and in the little corner of the world that we are placed. But let me urge you, do not neglect this important duty. You never know when you will come across people who will demand a reason why they should believe in Christ.

By the grace of God, Dr. William Lane Craig is a great apologet, theologian and analytic philosopher who does a fantastic job in debates with various atheists and philosophers on the topic of God, faith, and salvation. One of his most recent debates was held at Purdue University. We watched it live, and I encourage you to view this video too! It is very educational and engaging. Take the time this weekend and gather your family around to watch this. Don’t put it off too long- or you might never get around to viewing it! 🙂
