Giveaway winner and… why you see those ads

This will be a rather different post than I usually do. I will be addressing two things which are entirely unrelated to each other but for the reason that both are due for discussion, I’ll glue it together in one post.

The happy giveaway winner for the set of of  one lotion and two sprays is:

Amy from “Let my Life be a Light” !

Congratulations Amy and thanks for participating!
The giveaway which was announced in January, ended today Feb.  5th 2012

It was brought to my attention that there are some terrible video ads at the bottom of each of my posts. WordPress puts up these ads on blogs which are provided for free (such as mine) and I have no control over the content. I was shown a recent ad which totally shocked me and I could only imagine what other ads there have been. I knew that ads were put at the bottom, but I don’t see them when I post. So I apologize for the inconvenience and I will have to make a decision on what to do- whether pay a fee sometime in the future which takes off the ads, or choose to make my own website/domain. Until then, I felt compelled to  let you all know.

  1. Aw, thank you, Becky!! This was so kind of you! I know I will certainly enjoy the gift!

Also, I don’t ever see any ads on your blog. I’ve seen them on my blog on a few rare occasions, but never over here on yours…

    Have a lovely week!

    1. You’re very welcome Amy. And it’s good to hear that the ads haven’t come up for everyone. Actually, come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve seen any ads on your blog either, which is odd. But I know other people see the ads though.

  2. Hi Rebekah,
I was looking through your old posts, and came across this one. I visited my blog a while back and saw some ads, which I investigated. It seems that only visitors who aren’t logged in to WordPress (or Blogger) see the ads, and even then, they aren’t always displayed. I looked in to paying for ads-free WordPress, but I forgot 🙁
    Did you?
    Rhoda

    1. Yes, I looked into paying for the blog, but I decided against it for now. I think it costs about $18/month to keep ads off your blog, and I can’t afford that right now, especially since my blog is not that “big”. So…I will have to leave it like that for now, and I apologize to the readers, but at the same time, it isn’t me who is putting the content and I don’t really have control over it…:(
