Bible Journal: A hope and a future

Dear Journal,

Last Sunday we visited a Calvary Chapel. It was a nice experience- mainly because they sang Christmas carols, not the usual Rock music that so many mainstream churches have (I truly wouldn’t have enjoyed that).

The sermon for that Sunday was titled “Joy to the World”. One thing that really stood out to me and spoke to my heart was a verse that the pastor mentioned. It was my life verse….a very precious promise. And it encouraged me right when I needed it:

“For I know the plans I have toward you says the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11

Through his sermon the pastor said that God has a plan for my (and your life) so wonderful that even I couldn’t have thought it up any better. He has it all mapped out, and His plans are for good- not evil intentioned.

I was encouraged by the sermon that Sunday, although I didn’t take any notes.

So what encouraged you today, or what verse spoke to you from God’s Word?

I’d just like to remind you how important it is for you to read the Word daily. If you don’t, you are starving yourself spiritually. How well would you perform during the day if you fasted for the whole day- or the whole week? It’s dangerous to starve your body from food- but it’s just as dangerous to starve your soul of spiritual food.
