After a long day of homework with my head buried in textbooks and eyes glued to the computer screen, writing this blog post is like a relaxation technique, or stress relief for me. It brings back recent happy memories.
In the last week of January we had the joy of going to the “Debunking Darwin” conference held at the Southern California Seminary, featuring several great speakers. Our favorite speaker was from the Institute for Creation Research , Dr. Randy Guliuzza. If you remember, I wrote about the exciting time we had last year in September at another conference by ICR where Dr. Guliuzza was one of the speakers.
We arrived early at the conference and were able to explore the area. All the ministries and speakers represented at the conference had a lot of tables all lined with great resources! Oh, and coffee for everyone of course. What’s a conference without coffee, right?People have to stay awake…just kidding. You won’t find me falling asleep at any of the ICR conferences.

By God’s grace Dr. Guliuzza is a very engaging speaker. He has a neat sense of humor and his topics are always interesting. He is a medical doctor and engineer. Besides that, here is an impressive short description about him on the ICR website: “Dr. Guliuzza served nine years in the Navy Civil Engineer Corps and is a registered Professional Engineer. In 2008, he retired as Lt. Col. from the U.S. Air Force, where he served as Flight Surgeon and Chief of Aerospace Medicine.” (ICR.org)

At the end, we also purchased a great book from the ICR table. It may be geared toward children, but it’s equally attractive to adults as well I would say. It is basically a long timeline listing Biblical events parallel to other significant events that took place throughout history. I love it, because it really helps you visualize history.
There were quite a lot of people that turned out at the conference,
which somehow surprised me since it was the beginning of the week.

Addressing important issues…
After Dr. Guliuzza’s speech, there was a 20 minute break. During that time we hurried up to the front where he was, hoping we could catch him for a minute. We had two books of his that we wanted him to autograph.
It was neat to get to meet him in person. He was kind and welcoming, but it was also encouraging to see a researcher, author, doctor/scientist with such a humble spirit and giving all the glory to Christ. May the Lord keep him this way.
We told him that we already read two of his books that we got for Christmas, and we wanted him to autograph them for us, which he graciously did. The books we have are:

Clearly Seen: Constructing Solid Arguments for Design
I really recommend to all my readers that you get these books for yourself! They are not only easy to read, but provide a lot of interesting information! I will have to write a “book review” blog post on them later.
