  1. Rebekah, this is an amazing idea that you have !!
It makes people take time out of their busy schedules and think for a while 🙂

Today I am thankful for… the home comforts that God has blessed me with; a roof over my head, food to eat, and a nice warm bed. Today as I was walking home from university I was deeply saddened by the amount of homeless people on our streets.

A book I recently read… “Mere Christianity” by CS Lewis. Excellent reasoning is used and although I do not agree entirely on everything he says, the argument presented is very helpful towards talking with people who are not Christians in university.

A Bible verse that has been on my heart lately is… Galatians 6:14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

Something new I learned the past week is… There are things in this world that it is perfectly ok for a Christian to achieve. But if in striving to achieve these things, we loose our focus on Christ and our time for Him, there is no glory in the earthly accomplishment. It is much better lower our earthly goals and raise our eternal ones, lay up our treasures in heaven where they never ever will be corrupted. Christians do not need to come first in every class, or to win every scholarship, we do not need the praise and position from the world.

A song I’ve been listening to lately is… Pure Bride by Leeland.

It is about the Lord’s coming, and how we should behave in light of His imminent return.

I am currently working on… getting my drivers licence.

I am planning to… make myself relax and enjoy the Christmas holidays.

I often find myself doing… absolutely nothing. Spending vast amounts of time sitting and thinking.

I want to visit/see/explore…the whole of God’s wonderful creation!

Something that makes me smile is… crunching the frost on the grass in the morning.

    1. Hi Anna!

Your comment was a nice conclusion to my thanksgiving day when I read it yesterday! I plan to share some pictures of my day on the blog, after I’m done with finals (second week of December).

Mmm, we do have much to be thankful for. I too am grateful for the wonderful time spent with family, fellowship, great food, singing and reading of the Word on Thanksgiving day.

I love your thoughts on what you learned this past week. Yes, our focus should always be Christ! It’s so easy to get caught up in achieving and in the competitiveness of this world and lose sight of what is really our true goal- honoring Christ.

Hope your drivers license training is going well.

I too look forward to relaxing and enjoying Christmas. 🙂 When do you have finals week?

  2. Today I am thankful for… a bright, cold, morning. White frost on the fallen leaves and on a spider’s web by the gate when I took the children to school. Beautiful.

A book I recently read… The Railway Man by Eddie Lomax. Amazing account of his time in a Japanese prisoner of war camp.

A Bible verse that has been on my heart lately is… Proverbs 3:5 ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.’ My word for the year is TRUST. God has done amazing things with it (and with me!) this year.

Something new I learned the past week is… A combination of hairspray and toothpaste really do get marker pen off a laminate table.

A song I’ve been listening to lately is… ‘Ascension’ by Phil Wickham. ‘This is the start of something amazing…..’

I am currently working on… my first novel!

I am planning to… finish a detailed synopsis, structure plan and chapter/scene breakdown before Christmas.

I often find myself doing… surfing the internet rather than working, doing silly quizzes and drinking too much coffee.

I want to visit/see/explore… so much! I want to see the Northern Lights, a murmuration of starlings, Iceland, the Norwegian fjords, Italy…..

Something that makes me smile is… my family. My husband coming home on a Friday after a week’s work, sitting on the sofa with him and a glass of wine and a good film, watching my daughters compete in swimming galas, the garden, the countryside where I live, good coffee, getting a cake out of the oven, those moments in church when it feels as if the roof has been lifted off and the angels are joining in the worship.

Thanks for letting me join in! Bless you. x

    1. Hello Helen,

Thank you for your thoughtful comment! Your description of the beauty of nature was lovely!

The verse from Proverbs has countless times reminded me that I have to Trust in God when I tended to worry instead. Thanks for sharing that.

I’ll keep in mind the tip about marker pens, didn’t know that one! 🙂

How exciting that you’re working on your first novel! As an author myself, I remember how satisfying it is to see your work in print! Are you going to self publish or do it via traditional publishing houses?

I love traveling too! Italy is one of several places on my list as well.

Mmm, cake sounds delicious. And I agree, true worshipful singing in church feels like a little bit of heaven came down!

Have a lovely time with your family and a wonderful Thanksgiving day!

  3. How fun! I’m glad to “write your blogpost” today! 🙂

Today I am thankful for… God’s grace helping me to be a blessing to my family while they’re all sick with the flu (only four of the thirteen in our home not sick :))

    A book I recently read… 2 Timothy. LOVE it!

A Bible verse that has been on my heart lately is… Luke 9:23-24, “And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.”

Something new I learned the past week is… that Roy Rogers was a Freemason. :/

A song I’ve been listening to lately is… “In Christ Alone” by Brian Littrell (performed by my family this week at the Bible conference :))

I am currently working on… catching up with too many emails, blogposts, internet stuff . . . 🙂

I am planning to… keep cozy in this cold weather!

I often find myself doing… dishes and more dishes. 🙂

I want to visit/see/explore… Colorado again and again!

Something that makes me smile is… Nutella. 🙂 (made you smile too?)

Do we get to see your answers, Rebekah? 🙂

    By God’s grace,
    Amanda

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5

    1. Oh my, I hope all your family recovers soon, and I hope you won’t get it as well! Will be praying for you.

How did you know nutella makes me smile 😉

Haven’t really watched western/country movies so had to look that fourth one up.

Its amazing how quickly dishes pile up don’t they?

Yes, maybe I’ll answer the questions too, later on after additional interaction.

      1. Yes, yes! 🙂 Thank you!

        Hmm . . . let’s rewind a bit about a whole blog post about Nutella. 😉

I dislike Westerns, but my siblings were watching it and one of my sisters caught something about “lodge” and asked me to look it up. Yep.

I look forward to your reply! 🙂

“Thou wilt shew me the path of life, in Thy presence is fulness of joy, at Thy right hand there are pleasures forevermore.” Psalm 16:11

  4. Today I am thankful for gifts in the mail!

A Bible verse that has been on my heart lately is “And He said, ‘My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest'” Exodus 33:14

Something new I learned the past week is that playing an instrument is beneficial for the brain

A song I’ve been listening to lately is “Lo He comes with clouds descending”

I am currently working on a blurb book!

I am planning to run a 5K on Thanksgiving morning

    I often find myself singing

I want to visit/see/explore Israel, Italy, and last but definitely not least, Colonial Williamsburg!

Something that makes me smile is friends coming over for Thanksgiving

    1. Thanks for sharing Hilery. That verse from Exodus is really encouraging.
Wow, a 5k and blurb book sound ambitious and fun! I can’t wait for Thanksgiving myself, one of the reasons is because it means I’ll be that much closer to winter break.
