Creation & Apologetics

Creation Apologetics Event

Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God (Ephesians 6:13-17).

Summer term started last week. My two week break was rather short, to be honest with you. But, so I wouldn’t be too bummed about it, God provided a lovely way to conclude my time off and begin another term.

On June 1st, my family and I attended another event by the Institute for Creation Research featuring one of their best speakers, Dr. Jason Lisle. I can’t believe it’s already been a week since then. I still have great memories of the Debunkin Darwin event we attended back in January where Dr. Randy Guliuzza spoke (another favorite). So obviously I was excited when I saw ICR would hold an event near us in June. We prepped everything in advance, making sure to excuse ourselves from nursery shift and music at our home church for that Sunday, packing some snacks & fruits in our oversized ice box, and going to bed early (ahem). It was well worth it.

The topics presented by Dr. Lisle were “God’s Word vs. Man’s Word” and “Science Confirms Creation”. If that doesn’t sound interesting, I don’t know what does! But don’t take my word for it- see for yourself. For my friends and readers in other states and across the ocean, you can watch the archived videos of both services (skip over the music to the message directly) that I embedded down below.

We got our copy of The Ultimate Proof of Creation autographed while we were there. And we got a few free copies of The Solar System: God’s Heavenly Handiwork to share with some of our church family who were interested in creation resources.

So if you’re looking for some interesting summer reads, I highly recommend you check out these books and others at the ICR store. They’re not only fun to read, they’re also useful in building up your thinking and apologetics skills and strengthening your faith! We all need to be ready to give a defense of our faith in season and out of season, especially as college students.

Also, bloggers and readers alike will definitely enjoy this post “On the Origin of Articles“. Is it possible that maybe blog articles “evolve” out of nothing? You may want to go clarify that by reading this amusing post! Read the comments for some good laughs.

And if you want to challenge yourself, read “Are you Epistemologically Self-Conscious?” and find out how you know what you know about God and your Christian faith.

I’m looking forward to the next event coming up in September!
