The art of making pillowcases

I confess I don’t master this art. In fact, I must further confess I don’t even know how to make pillowcases (reddening sheepishly), though I do imagine it’s quite an easy process. Ah, but fortunately for me, my lovely mother knows how to handle the sewing machine and masters the art of making pillowcases.

So she made me these much needed and much appreciated pillow cases!

(Thank you mom!)

Wish I could share with you the step-by-step process of how this was “manufactured”. Then this would become a DIY project, but seriously, I don’t know how other bloggers do it…snapping pictures all the time. ๐Ÿ™‚ Most of the stuff I do is done in the “fast” mode, which does not allow for too many interruptions, otherwise I’d never get anything done, and although these pillowcases were done by my mom, I was busy helping out somebody else while she was working on them so I didn’t get the chance to get the camera out. Oh well.

Now what’s left to do is for me to finish up the purse I was working on, and that requires the use of the sewing machine. With a little help from my mother, I’m sure it’s a feasible thing! Can’t wait to share the pictures with you…and tell you where the material for the purse came from.

And no, I didn’t forget the series on our road trip! Coming up next- Part 3 of Road Trip through the Midwest Series!

  1. How cute Becky!!! Maybe one day when I have time, I’ll try sewing a purse or pillowcase. I have to admit, though, I don’t really know how to sew! ๐Ÿ™‚ But, my mom can always teach me! I’d love to see the purse you’ve been working on when you’re done with it.

    Love, Kimmy

    1. Yes Kimmy! I can’t wait to share it with you. I’m trying to make time for myself and mom to get sewing on it. Actually I think mom will complete the sewing on the purse, but I’ll be watching. And then she’ll let me practice on less complicated things. But at least I did the beginning part of the sewing on my purse…mom just needs to complete it. So I can call it the half & half purse. Yes, it would be fun if you could start making a pillowcase or a purse. If you do- send me the picture one day and I can post it on the blog!

  2. Oh, wow! The pillowcases are really nice. They look great! Thanks for sharing a picture =) I can’t wait to see the purse once you’ve finished it. I’ve been in a ‘sewing mood’ recently; though, I haven’t made anything recently, but my mom is going to be getting me a pattern at the store today so hopefully I will be soon. I’m not too good at taking pictures while I work either. Mostly, though, I’ve been in a “cooking/baking mood” I’ve tried some new recipes (and am planning on trying out a few more for lunch today) and am having a lot of fun in the kitchen =) Hope your summer is going along well, and that you’re being able to get done the things you have planned. I enjoyed your email from a few days ago, and will be writing back as time permits. Blessings!
