How did Christmas caroling start?

The first Christmas carolers were the angels who came to announce Jesus’ birth!
In England, among the first Christmas carolers were the “Waits” who played instruments similar to trumpets and flutes. They would sing and play on Christmas Eve.
New choirs and orchestras were being started in England in the 1600s-1800s, and caroling soon became very popular. Now we all enjoy hearing and singing Christmas carols to express our joy of Christmas and sing about the birth of Jesus!
