Bible Journal: All things under His feet

“For He has put all things under His feet.”
(1 Corinthians 15:27)

Have you read the verse above carefully? I know this might be a longer posting than usual. But- wait! Don’t click the close button yet! Continue reading, and you might find something to encourage you today. It won’t take more than a few minutes, really.

I’ve had it on my heart for awhile to write about this verse. I came across it as I was doing my daily reading several weeks ago.
Every morning, before I start reading in the Bible, I ask the Lord to speak to me through His Word; to give me a verse of encouragement, or reveal something important to me from the text. That day, this verse struck me so powerfully, because I realized something important: Christ has all things, all things, under His feet!

Do we realize the implications of this? Oh, how often we forget! We get overwhelmed by our problems, our worries, the daily struggle of life, and our doubts and fears.

But the implications of this verse are enourmous and vast! If Christ has all things under His feet, and we are His children, and we have complete, free, access to God’s throne by His grace- then we should come oh-so-boldly before Christ with the most difficult circumstances and lay them at His feet! Our prayers should be fervent, powerful, BOLD! Not obnoxiously, but as a child who desperately wants something and asks his Daddy to give it to Him. If a human father’s heart melts at the request of his baby/child….how much more does the heart of God listen to our prayers and overflow with love for us?

I hope this will be an encouragement for you to bring the seemingly impossible prayer requests, overwhelming circumstances, and hopeless cases to the Lord to solve! Because He is all-powerful!

And in light of all the events taking place with the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, let us pray that God will provide a solution. The situation is worsening as we all know…The powerplants are on the verge of meltdown and radation is spreading toward the United States and could affect so many people- besides the ones in Japan that area already affected. Let us pray boldly!
There are problems all around the world. We are witnessing the end of days, when the coming of the Lord is near. That is why this verse is so important. As we go through difficult times, we have to cling to God’s promises.

Let me share several more verses that I received lately that encouraged me, and which complement the verse above:

“Thus says the Lord: In an acceptable time I have heard You, and in the day of salvation I have helped you”
(Isaiah 49:8)

The Lord is willing to listen to our prayers and hear our requests!

“Is my hand shortened at all that it cannot redeem? Or have I no power to deliver? Ineed with My rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness; Their fish stink because there is no water.”
(Isaiah 49:8)

This reminded me that even the catastrophe in Japan, which might spread to parts of the United States, is not a difficult situation for the Lord. He dried up the Red Sea for the people of Israel to cross- so then, can He not deliver Japan and the world from the hellish fires and smoke coming from those powerplants in Japan???

“Grace to you and peace from God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ…who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.”
( Galatians 1:3)

The Lord comforts us with grace…and peace in this world of turmoil.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.”
(John 14:27)

My little sister recited the verse below yesterday. It was right in a moment when I was worrying. I know it talks about the birth of Christ, but the first part that says do not be afraid was an encouragement for me right then!

But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.”
(Luke 2:10)

  1. Hi Becky!
Thankyou so much for sharing these thoughts and verses! They were a blessing to me and a vast encouragement! My dad had shared something SO similar to us during family devotions the other night about how if we as human flesh can feel that genuine love for others how much more would it apply to God!? Sometimes I fail to remember the simple truth of Gods great love! Thank you so much for the reminder of fervent prayer as well! This is something the Lord has been teaching me as well lately. Sometimes it is SO hard to “pray always and not to faint” (I’m paraphrasing), but God “IS ABLE to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think…”!!! (eph 3:20) Thanks 4 the reminder!
    Love in Christ

  2. Hi Becky!
Thank you so much for sharing these thoughts today, and how the Lord spoke to you through His Word. They were definitly an encouragement to me this afternoon. I know recently the Lord has been showing me my need to continue diligently in prayer…even if the answer doesn’t seem to come right away, or the prayer requests are big. He is a kind Father, and He delights in hearing and answering the prayers of His children!
    Blessings!

    1. Amy,

Thank you for the comment! I am glad you found the post useful. Yes, prayer can be a difficult task, so perseverance is needed. It can be a battle. Knowing that the Lord answers our prayers refreshes us and helps us continue in our prayer!
